We are so devastated we cannot attend. Every summer we drove up from our house outside Detroit to vacation with our grandparents (mother from Lake Linden and father from Laurium), so Calumet was like a second home.

The introduction presents an abbreviated history of Cornwall from prehistoric times to the modern era. Pages 4-7 mention stone antiquities which may be relevant to a forum on the Standing Stones.

lowena dhywgh! (My attempt at Cornish). Upon my retirement as a high school maths teacher, I realized I did not provide my son with the same oral history my father provided to me. Sitting on the porch in Michigan, he told stories of the family coming to Michigan (Calumet) from St. Ives, of family life (especially meal times), and the transition from the copper mines to other employment. My wife makes a fabulous pasty and we are working with my fathers recipes for heavy cake and saffron bread.

Ann, where in California do you reside? I just left LA to move to Idaho, but I understand I have a whole group of distant cousins in Grass Valley, the Berrymans. I am forced to miss the Gathering in Calumet. Very disappointing since that is where my grandfather, Peter Husband Berriman, emigrated to and raised his family. My father and grandfather are buried outside of town at Lakeview Cemetary.
