Hi! I am a retired teacher, originally from Wisconsin, but living in California since the 1980s. Like most American Baby Boomers, I have a lot of ancestors besides the Cornish ones. My dad's paternal line came from Gwennap (Lean/Trelease), Camborne (Bennetts - however they moved to Mary Tavy in Devon), and Breage (James, Rodda). They emigrated to Mineral Point, WI and then northern Michigan in the mid-1800s, and my paternal grandfather was born in Osceola MI in 1897. My 2nd great grandfather was a Justice of the Peace - William Lean (1821/1819 to 1884). He and his wife Jane (Bennetts) had 18 children (!) and my great grandfather was the 18th! My late father was a member of the local Cornish society in Wisconsin for many years, and I grew up eating pasties and saffron buns; always proud of the Cornish side of my heritage. I also do genealogical research as a hobby, Now that I am retired I hope to be able to visit Cornwall soon, as I have never been. .

Ann, where in California do you reside? I just left LA to move to Idaho, but I understand I have a whole group of distant cousins in Grass Valley, the Berrymans.
I am forced to miss the Gathering in Calumet. Very disappointing since that is where my grandfather, Peter Husband Berriman, emigrated to and raised his family. My father and grandfather are buried outside of town at Lakeview Cemetary.
